Khudkilo programme

Khudkilo is a Nepali word which can be translated as "steps of the stairs".

This programme is the first project we have launched, in partnership with Audrey Jacobs Foundation, to achieve our objectives.

Through Khudkilo programme our services   and activities  are provided in all the districts where we work (Banke, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Sindhupalchowk). We provide them inside and outside schools to make Inclusion a success.

Inside the School

  • Support the needy children in curriculum and learning activities.
Support to the needy children do the exercises requested in class.
Offer learning exercises tailored to the needs of the differently abled children.
  • Support the needy children in the various activities in school.
Assist the needy children for doing their classwork.
Assist the needy children to hold properly his/her pen according to his specificity.
Assist the needy children to move around the school (like here drinking water).
Organizing recreational activities for the differently abled children.
  • Provide educational materials for differently abled children as well as for all students.
Bring new educational materials to schools...
... that benefit all students !
  • Sensitization, awareness and training for teachers and school family regarding Inclusive Education.
  • Awareness and advocacy activities regarding differently abled children and Inclusion inside the school.
Visit and exchanges inside a classroom where differently abled student is included.
Children are participating in practical demonstration.
Meeting in a resource class with the school team and the parents.
Children are participating in school and community exhibition day (MELA).
Meeting with the school team.
  • Modification and adaptation in learning process together with teachers (curriculum).

Outside the School

  • Coordinate and refer for rehabilitation, medical and healthcare services.

  • Network with different related organisations

(NGOs, GOs, self-help groups, hospitals, rehabilitation centers...).

Active observation during a course of Speech Therapy.
An Orientation programme for the Students of "Bachelor in Social Work",
SS College-Bhaktapur on Inclusive Education.
Workshop for Special Educators and Therapists from Satprayash Nepal on Inclusive Education.
Meetings with a local parents self-help groups.
Meeting, sharing experiences and presentations on Inclusive Education with SGCP Nepal team.

  • Awareness and advocacy programs for the communities.
Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3rd December) in Banke.
Workshop for parents of differently abled children on "Disability and Inclusive Education".
Art and painting workshop organized by Sama Nepal on the theme of Inclusion.

Khudkilo Programme was awarded as innovative practice in Inclusive Education by Zero Project.
